Last night over dinner we discussed those “24/36/48 hours in…” city guides that are so popular in lifestyle magazines. I pointed out that very often they contain conflicting suggestions and are usually unlikely to make a visitor very happy. So the title of this post is a bit tongue-in-cheek, but other than celebrating Chinese New Year this weekend I hardly spent any time at home, taking full advantage of what the city has to offer. This post is my 48 hours in Johannesburg but I have a feeling you might enjoy it too…

First stop on Friday night was Kitchner's bar on Juta street. It is the building on the left - very smokey but always full of fun interesting people.

After lunch we grabbed coffee and a red velvet cupcake at Wolves cafe, where this awesome old man was having a beer and writing in his book.

On Sunday, when the afternoon storm let up, we went to the rooftop of the 12 Decades hotel at Arts on Main for some sundowners.

The last stop of the weekend was Trabella restaurant where the waiter went out of his way to find me an avocado for my pizza. Perfect ending to my 48 hours.
